Who we are?

We are a nonpartisan, Washington First, voter-focused nonprofit dedicated to making sure Washington residents understand how federal tax flows — and state taxes — impact our state. As a major donor state, Washington sends far more to the federal government than we receive back, resulting in fewer federal dollars circulating in our economy for small businesses and communities to compete for — while compounding challenges from unnecessary or burdensome state taxes. We are deeply committed to supporting and protecting small businesses, which form the backbone of our state's economy. Informed voters make stronger communities — and transparency across both federal and state levels is the first step toward meaningful change that puts Washington families and small businesses first.

What We Stand For!

  • Fairness: Washington taxpayers deserve a balanced return on the money they contribute — at both federal and state levels.

  • Engagement: Real change happens when people get involved, speak up, and vote with awareness.

  • Strong Support for Small Businesses: Small businesses are the heart of Washington communities — creating the majority of jobs, fueling local growth, and serving as the foundation of our economy. We are firmly committed to advocating for them by highlighting how the federal donor state imbalance disproportionately harms these businesses the most: fewer federal dollars return in the form of grants, loans (e.g., SBA programs), infrastructure investments, economic development resources, and other competitive funding opportunities. This leaves Washington small businesses with less to compete for in the national economy compared to those in recipient states that receive disproportionate federal support — forcing our local entrepreneurs to operate on an uneven playing field, fill funding gaps with higher local costs, and struggle with razor-thin margins that limit hiring, expansion, and innovation. This "double-whammy" of reduced federal inflows and added state-level pressures squeezes growth opportunities for the very businesses that can't absorb burdens like larger corporations can.

  • Opposition to Unnecessary State Taxes: We advocate against unnecessary or burdensome state taxes that add strain on Washington residents already facing a significant federal imbalance — effectively creating a form of double taxation where the same economic base bears extra state-level costs without proportional federal benefits returning to our communities. This burden falls especially heavily on small businesses with limited resources to navigate or offset added taxes, further reducing their ability to compete. We push for state tax policies that support — rather than further burden — families, businesses, and local services.
